Literature Text

You were in a good mood today, a very good mood. You knew that nothing could ruin your perfectly good mood. You ran out of your small apartment and over to the curb, holding your hand out to the nearest taxi.

"Taxi!" You called, and smiled as the taxi pulled up right to you. You were glad too. The rain was started to come down in sheets. You inserted yourself inside the cab, and just when you were about to take a seat, someone else got in beside you. You turned to look at the guy, but was looking at his back.

"I'm sorry sir, but this is MY taxi so could you please get out?" You asked politely, making sure to put emphasis on "my". The guy turned to you and you were speechless at how good-looking he was. He had blonde hair that fell in his face and cowlick that stood up perfectly on his head. He had blue eyes that had a glint to them behind his glasses. He had a brown-leather jacket on that fit well against his toned body..not that you were looking or anything. The guy smiled.

"I'm sorry darlin', but I'm afraid I got here first." He said, his voice hinted in a southern drawl. You snapped yourself out your daze and shook your head.

"No, I got in first." You replied, voice still polite though hinted with annoyance. The guy shook his head.

"Sorry darlin', but I did."

"No, I did."

"I did."

"I did!"

"Hey!" The cab driver yelled over the both of you. "I don't care who got in first. Either one of you get out, or this cab ain't goin nowhere!" The guy sighed and raised his hands.

"Ya know what? Fine." He opened the door on his side and got out, slamming the door. You felt yourself smirk.

"Ha." You said to yourself as you watched the guy jog to get out of the rain. You settled back into your seat and closed your eyes. Then opened them.

What were you doing?

You rolled your eyes and got out of the cab too. The guy turned around to face you once he heard the door slam.

"What are you doing?!" He yelled over the rain. You sighed.

"Just forget it! I'll find myself another cab, so jus-" You were cut off by the cab driving away. You sighed. "Ah, well isn't that just great." The guy shook his head.

"Ya see what you did?"

"What I've done?!" You would have said more if it weren't for the many car horns blaring in your ears, signalling for you to get out of the middle of the road. You pranced onto the curb and turned on the guy, who was currently following you.

"Ya know, I am in a very good mood right now and you are completely ruining it, sir!" You snapped, and with that stomped to the subway.

You were now on the subway, crammed between many people with your back pressed to one of the poles. Someone was behind you, and you didn't know who it was until that familiar southern drawl spoke in your ear.

"How's your good mood now?" He asked in a teasing tone. You huffed a sarcastic laugh.

"Yeah, do me a favor and do not talk to me." You snapped and turned away. You heard him chuckle. Once you boarded off the subway, he was still following you. After a couple of minutes, you turned on him.

"Okay, dude. What is your deal?" The guy raised an eyebrow, as if surprised at this.

"Oh? I thought I wasn't supposed to talk to you." He said in that same teasing tone. You sighed.

"Why are you following me?" The guy shrugged.

"I dunno. Guess I never seen a girl as pretty as you." He said, giving a charming smile. You rolled your eyes, despite your now-red cheeks. "What's your name, darlin'?"

"_______" You replied bluntly. He nodded, taking it in. "What's yours?"

"The names Alfred." He replied, smiling. "Alfred F. Jones." You nodded, taking it in. You gave a half-a-smile.

"Nice to meetcha, Alfred." You said, looking away shyly. His charming smile brightened as he gently took your chin, and turned your head back to face him.

"The pleasure is all mine." He said. You smiled back at him and suddenly, your stomach growled making your face go red with embarrassment. He laughed.

"Sounds like the little darlin's hungry. C'mon, I'll buy ya something."

After Alfred had taken your to a nearby McDonald's, you were now standing with him in a park that was nearby.

"Thanks for buying me food, Alfred." You said, smiling. He smiled back.

"Not a problem, darlin." He replied. You looked at your watch when you heard it 'beep'. The time read 7:30.

"Oh, shoot! I have to get home!" You cried and picked up your bag, hoisting it on your shoulder. "Thanks for everything, Alfred!" You sped off in the direction your house was in, but stopped when he called your name. You turned around to find him pointing at something on the ground.

"There's a penny on the ground. You should pick it up for good luck." He called out. You felt yourself smile and walked over to it.

"Only if its heads."You called back and kneeled down. The penny was on tails so your turned it over to heads. "There, now someone else can have good luck." You said, standing up and walking away toward your house. You heard him laugh in response.
